Giving to CU
Where does the money come from?
Money doesn’t grow on trees! It is only from the financial support of its members, as well as graduates and churches that the work of the Christian Union is able to continue, since we do not receive any funding from the university.
But what does the CU need to spend money on?
We spend the money we receive on speakers’ expenses, publicity, lunchbars and other evangelistic events, courses such as Christianity Explored, and subsidising houseparties.
Okay, how can I give to CU?
There are a few ways in which you can give to the CU. The first would be by cash or cheque, payable to BUCU. This can be given to any member of the Exec or addressed to:
The Treasurer
Bristol University Christian Union
Students’ Union
Queens Road
Clifton
Bristol
BS8 1LN
Alternatively, you can do a one-off bank transfer or set up a standing order, where a regular gift can be set for every month, quarter or year. For the account details or further questions please contact Tim Daniel.
Alternatively again, if you are a UK taxpayer, you can give to the CU via Stewardship, a group which allows charitable Christian organisations to receive Gift Aid. If you have an account with them you can search for Bristol CU and add us as a recipient.
2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
