The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
(James 5v16)
Everything we do as a CU has to centre around Jesus. If we honestly want to move on God’s behalf into situations where He is not yet known for who He is, we need to realise that apart from Him we can do no-thing. So we pray, we pray together as a Christians living in a mission field asking that the Lord of the harvest would continue to send out His workers, that we as Christians would have our hearts seized by the power of His great affection. As we pray we also remind ourselves that everything we do as a CU is dependant on God and it is not out of our own compassion we go, rather it’s out of His great compassion which never fails.
We therefore meet in term time on Tuesday mornings (8-9am) for breakfast together in the Chaplaincy and Thursdays before CU:Central (7pm) in the Union to lift up all we do to Him.
The Chaplaincy is Number 76 on the map. (link below)

These meetings are only to facilitate your personal prayer for mission in our University. Prayer is not contained to these times and places so you can pray throughout each day at uni, remember Christian maturity is an increase in dependence on God. If you have any ideas please email me (prayer@bristolcu.org.uk) or approach me at any point in the year.

- BRIAN & BECCA WHITTAKER our amazing staff workers to be refreshed as they serve us, and for Godly vision and wisdom to help guide our CU in the coming year.
- CHURCHES that they would be filled anew with a heart to partner with us in our vision to reach our mission field.
- OURSELVES as individuals to be captivated anew with His compassion and vision for our university and to be emboldened to never be ashamed of Him in the coming year.
- UNITY among Christians in our university.
We continue to thank God for:
- The chance to have a CU in Bristol, free from persecution thanks to His continued protection.
- The hard work that Orbital/Hall CU leaders do.
- The great Dare to Believe events/talks and for the students who came.
- Good relations with the Students Union.
- Relationships with churches both in Bristol and further afield.
- All the Christians in our University and that they would find CU a resource to help them reach their friends.
- Boldness, passion and courage to live and speak for Christ as students.
Do use these requests as a resource in line with how helpful you find them. They should be updated regularly and remember:
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need..” Hebrews 4 v 14-16
